Mason's "International Classroom" Program

Working together with the Meridian International Center, a non-profit organization in D.C. that promotes international understanding through the exchange of people, ideas and the arts, we are recruiting international and domestic students at Mason to give dynamic, interactive presentations about their country to students in the Fairfax County public schools. International students can volunteer to be "Cultural Consultants." Domestic students can volunteer to be "Classroom Facilitators." The Cultural Consultants and the Classroom Facilitators are matched up. Why should you do this?  It is a fun and unusual volunteer opportunity, first of all!  We feel this will be a great benefit to schools in our community, and will provide rich cultural exchange experiences to international and American students at Mason.  A number of schools have expressed great interest - from elementary schools closeby our Fairfax campus to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology on Braddock Road! For further info, contact:  Judith A Green (Director, OIPS, jagreen@gmu.edu).

International Education Week
(November 13th-18th)

During this week, Mason has a famous invited speaker, dance performances, and many other activities. Keep an eye out for this year's schedule.

International Week (in April)

A week full of a great dance competition, a fashion show, movies, cultural performances, and more. International Week is so great!

George Mason recently received the Institute of International Education's fifth annual Andrew Heiskell Award for its work to internationalize the campus. One award category was internationalizing the curriculum and the creation of the Global Affairs Program was singled out as one of the deciding factors in bestowing the award.
