Catherine Welch

Catherine Welch is an Asia analyst with the Center for Naval Analyses' China Studies Division. Her research interests include US-China relations, US-China cyber security cooperation, China's political and military cooperation in Asia, and Chinese domestic and international security issues.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, a graduate certificate in Asian studies from the University of Cincinnati, and a master’s of global affairs with a specialization in global media and technology from Mason.

In May 2012, she spoke at an international conference in Beijing, China on cyber security: China and the world. Before joining CNA, she worked for the greater Cincinnati Chinese chamber of commerce and, most recently, at an energy consulting firm in Washington, D.C. Katherine speaks Mandarin, Turkish, and French.
