Abla Triki graduated from Towson University (MD) with a BA in International Studies and a minor in Anthropology. She pursued her graduate work at George Mason University with an MA in Global Affairs and a specialization in Culture and Society. Her research interests revolved around issues related to globalization, colonialism, and freedom of movement. Her main regional focus is the Mediterranean Sea, as a border space, and North Africa, as a destination and/or transit migration hub. She is originally from Rabat, Morocco, where she completed her secondary education and French baccalauréate.

She is currently a first-year doctoral student at George Mason University.
