What is your favorite part about being a Mason student?

My favorite part is the ability to collaborate with individuals in any discipline because of the ease of accessibility to professors and resources at Mason.

Describe any extracurricular activities, study abroad, or internships you’ve done.

I am President of Patriots for Peace, a registered student organization at Mason that exposes the George Mason community to domestic and international issues that affect our world through activism opportunities, hosts speakers with diverse perspectives, and promotes peaceful connections with Mason faculty and students to maintain a unified campus.

I am a member of the international dance competition team for Azucar, a student organization that shares the joys of Salsa dancing with the Mason community and creates a fun social group that will foster a lifelong appreciation for dancing.

I am interning with Hands 4 Others, a non-profit that empowers students to be global leaders who promote positive peace and global advocacy. I am working on a multimedia campaign to spread a message of hope to Syrian refugees through video narratives of students who overcame hardships of political oppression and poverty in their countries of origin.

I recently studied abroad in Cumbaya, Ecuador, where I was immersed in Spanish language and Ecuadorian culture. I was also a member of the club running team my freshman year where I competed in sprints.

What is your favorite part about your major/degree program?

My favorite part about my global affairs degree is the multidisciplinary platform that allows me to grasp an understanding of how multiple disciplines affect the current issues happening in the world.

What is the one part of your major/degree program that has had the most impact on you?

My internship with Professor Niklas Hultin gave me insight into the norms and customs of African legal proceedings with respect to human rights violations from both state and non-state actors.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself bridging the gaps between multiple disciplines to provide humanitarian relief in new ways that have yet to be done.
