What is your favorite part about being a Mason student?
My favorite part about Mason is the diversity of our community. One of the best experiences I have had at Mason is learning from the diverse opinions, values, and experiences that my fellow classmates have.
Describe any extracurricular activities, study abroad, or internships you’ve done.
I am currently interning at the U.S. Agency for International Development in their Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs. Last summer, I interned with the Advocacy Department at Catholic Relief Services, the organization that performs all of the US Catholic Church's international development work. I have also been a Research Assistant with the Institute of Immigration Research, an Intern with my U.S. Congressional Representative, and a Volunteer Coordinator with Appalachia Service Project. Last semester, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. I am currently a member of College Service Project, a student organization that performs emergency home repair for families in need in the Appalachia region. I was previously the Trip Coordinator for this organization. In addition, I was previously the Fundraising Coordinator for the UNICEF Campus Initiative as well as a member of the Women's Club Ultimate Frisbee Team.
What is your favorite part of your major/degree program?
My favorite part about the global affairs program is the opportunity to learn about the world through a variety of perspectives. My favorite part about the Economics program is the faculty's dedication to helping students achieve their goals.
What is the one part of your major/degree program that has had the most impact on you?
The most impactful part of the global affairs program was the flexibility it gave me to study abroad. Study abroad provided the opportunity to meet people from around the world as well as study international affairs from a different perspective. The part of the economics program that has had the most impact on me was the opportunity to be a Schumpeter Fellow. This fellowship gave me the opportunity to learn more about economics and meet distinguished faculty within the economics department. I have learned a lot from this experience.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope to be working for an organization that is actively making a positive difference in the world.
