Mevi Magbegor

What are your plans after graduating from the Global Affairs MA program?

I plan to get into NGO management and advocacy. Look out for me on the United Nations website!

Is there a course, text, or assignment in particular that you will take with you on your alumni life?

PUAD 636 which I took in the Fall 2020 semester made me realize how much passion I have for the NGO world and also the importance of NGOs, after taking the class, that's when I decided to go into NGO management and advocacy.

Please describe one memory or highlight of your time in the program.

I would say the highlight of my time in the program is my first day of class (GLOA 600), I never imagined I would get a Master's degree in my country, much less in another country. Sitting in that class and working towards achieving the dreams I was so scared to even utter gave me a level of confidence I never knew existed; confidence in myself and in my ability to perform!

What would be your advice to new alumni, regardless of whether they are already in established careers or are in search of a job?

It is okay to feel like you cannot, but never let anyone tell you that you cannot. Also, genuinely and intentionally work to be the best version of yourself every day. The possibilities are endless!
