Summer Service and Learning Program in Rural China

Applications Due on April 20

Tsinghua University is offering an exciting 3-4 week "Summer Service and Learning Program in Rural China" in Summer 2013, and students from Tsinghua's US partners are invited to participate.  No Chinese language is required, and most of the costs are covered except for interntional airfare and a $490 registration fee (see attached below.)

This 12 minute video intimately portrays the impressions of three participants in the 2006 Summer Service Learning Program: Ashley Beleny from Monterey Institute of International Studies, Xiaying Zhang from San Diego State University, and Rain Jia from Tsinghua University. These students were part of a team of ten volunteers who taught at Yulong County # 1 High School in northwest Yunnan Province. The video was produced and directed by Professor Mark Freeman (markfreemanfilms.org) from the School of Theatre, Television and Film at San Diego State University and filmed by Ángel Granados
