On October 9, 1:30- 2:45 pm, Dr. Stephanie Barrientos, Emeritus Professor, Global Development Institute, University of Manchester, UK, will be presenting "Fairer Trade in Global Value Chains: Whither sustainability standards?" Stephanie has researched and published widely on gender, agribusiness and employment in global value chains; trade and labour standards; corporate social responsibility, fair and ethical trade; and business and human rights. Her book Gender and Work in Global Value Chains: Capturing the Gains? was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019. Stephanie currently holds a Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship (2023-26) to work on a book on Fairer Trade in Global Supply Chains: Wither Sustainability Standards? This will be available through ‘open access’ in 2026.
