Nikolai Getman was a prisoner in Kolyma, part of Stalin's notorious Gulag forced labor camps in the late 1940s and early 1950s. After his release, he secretly completed a series of paintings documenting his experience. A portion of this important and unique collection are on exhibit at George Mason University, and a series of events accompanies the exhibit.
