In Spring 2023, the Global Affairs program (GLOA) will host four distinguished speakers from multiple social science and humanities disciplines as part of this academic year’s colloquium series “Climate Change and Globalization.”
As an interdisciplinary program focusing on global issues and their regional and local implications, GLOA holds colloquium series each year on a timely global issue. The colloquia on climate change and globalization attracted many scholars and students in the fall semester. Continuing the same topic in the spring semester, we are excited to contribute to academic and policy conversations on climate change.
Speakers based in academic institutions in different parts of the world will reflect on how complex policies, discourses, and practices about climate change shape our global world. As scientists, academics, and activists incessantly note, climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and we are at a defining moment.
We hope the series will help the Mason community better understand how climate change shapes our global world. These events will be held 4:30-6:00 pm EST on Zoom, and the series will be open to all faculty members, students, and staff.
Flyers on each talk will be shared a week before the events, and more info will be available at the GLOA website at globalaffairs.gmu.edu. Photo by NOAA on Unsplash.
