Appointments
Academic advising appointments with the Graduate Program Coordinator are scheduled through Patriot Connect. Instructions are provided below for advising current graduate students, prospective students not currently enrolled in the program, and current Mason undergraduates interested in or already participating in the BAM pathway for Global Affairs.
- Log in to Patriot Connect.
- Select the advisor's name, Virginia Holm (for GLOA MA), under the "Success Team" heading on the home page.
- Click "Schedule Appointment."
- Select the most relevant appointment topic and click "Next."
- Choose your preferred modality (in-person or virtual) and click "Next."
- Click on the drop-down menu next to the advisor's name to view available appointment times.
- Select the appointment you wish to reserve and click "Next."
- Provide a brief explanation of what you wish to discuss, any additional information you want the advisor to know, and upload any relevant files that may be helpful to review before/during the appointment (e.g., forms).
- Confirm how you want to receive appointment notifications: Email is the default option and will be sent to your George Mason email address. You can enable text messaging by checking the "SMS" box as a secondary option or to replace the email reminder.
- Click "Confirm" to reserve the appointment.
- Both you and the advisor will receive an appointment confirmation. Review this information for important details about the session. A quick summary of your upcoming appointment will display on your Patriot Connect dashboard once you have completed the scheduling process.

- Select the Global Affairs MA program from the list and click "Next." Note: You can type the program name into the 'type to filter' box as a quick search feature.
- Select the most relevant appointment topic and click "Next."

- Click on the drop-down menu next to the advisor's name, Virginia Holm (for GLOA MA) to view available appointment times.
- Select the appointment you wish to reserve and click "Next."

Students who are interested in the BAM program for Global Affairs should first review the program information and eligibility criteria with their Undergraduate Advisor. For inquiry meetings about the graduate program and/or classes during the BAM pathway, interested students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the BAM Graduate Coordinator Advisor.

- Provide a brief explanation of what you wish to discuss, any additional information you want the advisor to know, and upload any relevant files that may be helpful to review before/during the appointment (e.g., BAM advising form).

Appointment Types
Graduate-level advising appointments in the program can be made for the following services:
- General graduate student advising
- BAM advising
- Graduate exceptions and leave requests
- Graduate registration and curriculum questions
- Graduate transfer of credit requests
- Graduation and degree conferral questions/issues
- Prospective graduate student advising/inquiry meetings
Appointment Policies and Expectations
- Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the selected start date and time.
- Students are expected to join the appointment promptly at the scheduled time.
- If a student is 10 minutes late for their scheduled appointment, they must reschedule.
Need to cancel?
If a student needs to cancel an appointment, they should do so with as much notice as possible. A student can cancel and/or reschedule their appointment via Patriot Connect.
