International and Comparative Political Economy

Dr. Ji Hye Lim is an Associate Professor in the Global Affairs Program at George Mason University Korea. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from George Mason University, earned in August 2020. Her research focuses on the intersection of international and comparative political economy, with particular interests in economic security, liberalization, supply chain, and development. Dr. Lim specializes in developmental states, foreign direct investment (FDI), and bilateral investment treaties, particularly in East Asia. She has a broader theoretical interest in how economic institutions influence a country’s policy and development, exploring the mechanisms by which economic structures shape national and international policies. Recently, her work has expanded to interdisciplinary research in various areas of global affairs, examining the complex interactions between economic, political, and social factors in shaping economic policies and the global economy. By analyzing how these dimensions intersect, Dr. Lim investigates how global trends and local institutions influence economic strategies, development outcomes, and international relations.
